FAQ -  (Frequently asked Questions)

This is a collection of questions we get asked all the time about these dogs.
This page is for those who want to know more about Wolfalike and Northern Inuit Dogs.

Q: Can they be let off lead?
A:

Not all of them. With the right training some of them can be off lead, but remember they have a very high prey drive so choose your off lead moments visely.

Q: Do they have a prey drive?
A:

Yes, they have a high prey drive and must be kept on lead around live stock.

Q: Can they live together with other pets?
A:

Yes, they can live together with other pets if introduced from a young age. Never leave your dog unsupervised with other pets, even if they are in a cage.

Q: Do they require a lot of grooming?
A:

Yes and no. They require daily brushing when the moult, which is preferable done with a undercoat rake and a slicker brush. We do not recommend any deshedder combs as they can damage their coat.
Outside shedding season, we still recommend daily brushing as that is a great way of bonding, and checking your dog for grass seeds, thorns, nicks and other things that get stuck in their coat.

Q: What do they eat?
A:

They thrive on high quality, grain free kibbles and/or raw feeding.

Some can have sensitive tummies, therefore a grain free diet is the best. We recommend brands such as Akela and Millies Wolfheart.
All our puppies are weaned on both kibbles and raw, as it's up to each owner choose a feeding style that fits them.

Q: Are they a good family dog?
A:

Yes, they are bred to be family dogs and are good with children. However, NEVER leave a child unsupervised with a dog.

Q: Do they make good guard dogs?
A:

No, they are bred to be a non agressive and non guarding breed.
